The Pixies have been making waves since the 80s. The band has influenced a whole bunch of awesome musicians like Pearl Jam, Radiohead, the Strokes, Nirvana, and Weezer. These guys kicked off back in 1986, drawing inspiration from a mishmash of genres—think punk rock, religious tunes, folk, and country music. They're all about crafting songs with wild lyrics and tackling offbeat topics. In their career spanning five decades, they've had their fair share of breakups and solo gigs in between. Much to fans' delight, they reunited in 2003, and they've been going strong ever since. Even today, new fans are hopping on board, digging their unconventional sound and helping them reach even more ears. With seven studio albums under their belt, the Pixies have cemented their spot as one of the coolest alternative rock bands ever.
Next up, we've got Modest Mouse - a rock group born in '93. The Grammy Award-nominated band is excited to go on tour this year. Founded by Jeremiah Green, Eric Judy, and Isaac Brock after a heavy metal gig left them inspired, they credit Pixies for shaping their sound. Their mega-hit "Float On" soared to the top of the US Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart - even scored a Grammy nod for Best Rock Song in 2005.
Joining these two awesome bands as a supporting act is the talented Cat Power! Known for her eighth studio album "Jukebox," released in '08 by Matador Records. It climbed to number 12 on the Billboard 200 and hit number 4 on the French album chart, solidifying her place in the music world.
Modest Mouse is marking the 20th anniversary of their beloved album "Good News for People Who Love Bad News," while Cat Power is still riding high with her 2022 full-length album, featuring covers from Bob Dylan's iconic 1966 performance at the Royal Albert Hall. And let's not forget the Pixies, who've been evolving their sound since Paz Lenchantin stepped in as bassist in 2016.
When these amazing people rock the stage in Gilford, you better not miss it!
