Celtic punk powerhouse Dropkick Murphys conquered the nation last year with their critically-acclaimed acoustic tour. This fall, they’re plugging their gears and will go into full electric mode with their brand-new outing! The Full Electric Show trek will cover 26 major cities across the U.S. and Canada and kick off at the end of September! On Friday, 29th September 2023, the band will make one of its early stops at the Bank of NH Pavilion in Gildford, New Hampshire! Dropkick Murphys is the most prolific purveyor of the Celtic punk movement in North America. The band emerged in the mid-'90s from Massachusetts and built a solid reputation as a must-see high-energy band. Their relentless touring and annual St. Patrick’s Day concert runs helped them amass a loyal following across the country and beyond. Dropkick Murphys released their debut album, Do or Die, in 1998. The album, which spawned the single “Barroom Hero,” received wide critical acclaim for its hardcore punk style laced with Irish music influences.
The following year, Dropkick Murphys debuted on the Billboard 200 chart, releasing their sophomore effort, The Gang’s All Here. During this time, the album’s music video “120 Minutes” was receiving airplay on MTV. Meanwhile, the album also dropped “Ten Years of Service” as a single. The album was praised by critics for “its songwriting was of a higher standard than contemporary punk albums.” Meanwhile, Rolling Stone magazine published a review that said, “The four band members pummel through their anthems like punked-out Rock 'Em Sock 'Em robots."
By 2001, the band brought in a full-time piper, Robbie Mederios, and a mandolin player Ryan Foltz. They released their third effort, Sing Loud, Sing Proud! and soared to number 144 on the Billboard 200. The album also gained international traction and entered the charts in Finland and the Netherlands.
Four years later, the band finally achieved a phenomenal breakthrough. The Warrior’s Code entered the Billboard 200’s Top 50 plus the charts in five other countries. The 2005 effort, which spawned the band’s biggest hits, “I’m Shipping Up to Boston” and “Warrior’s Code,” sold over 500,000 copies in the U.S., earning the band their first gold certification. This career-defining record paved the way for Dropkick Murphys' subsequent albums, most of which broke into the Billboard 200’s Top 20.
In 2011, they dropped their highest-charting effort to date. Going Out in Style debuted at number 6 on the Billboard 200 and entered the charts in nine other countries. The album spawned two singles that year, including the title track.
This 2023, Dropkick Murphys are set to promote their latest effort, Okemah Rising. The album was preceded by two lead singles, "I Know How it Feels" and "Gotta Get to Peeskill,” which featured the Violent Femmes.
